A novel class of compounds which are useful as plant growth regulators is disclosed, having the general structural formula: <IMAGE> (I) R1 is C1 to C4 alkyl, nitro or halo and n is zero or an integer from 1 to 4 R2 is hydrogen, C1 to C4 alkyl, allyl or benzyl; n' is zero, 1 or 2 and Ar is naphthyl, phenoxybenzyl, phenyl or phenyl bearing thereon from one to three of the substituents: cyano, phenoxy, nitro, bromo, chloro, fluoro and C1 to C4 alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, carbalkoxy or alkyl-substituted amino.
