PURPOSE:To manufacture amorphous magnetic materials having excellent magnetic characteristics by a method in which a melt consisting of one or more rare earth elements and other elements is ejected to cool it very rapidly in order to make it amorphous state and then heat-treated. CONSTITUTION:One or more rare earth elements and other elements are melted, and the melt is ejected onto the surface of a rotator, e.g., roll, drum, etc., so as to cool it very rapidly at a cooling rate 10<5> deg.C/sec or more, whereby part of all of the melt is converted into amorphous state. Then, a ribbon-shaped thin plate of amorphous metal is obtained. The metal material, having excellent magnetic characteristics, is further raised in its magnetic characteristics to a great extent by being subjected to further heat treatment. |
