Stabilised boat hull shape - has stable broad low beam and angled lee boards to increase stability of hulls

The hull has a base which has a broader beam than that existing at the deck level to increase the hull stability. Lee boards (5) are fitted to either side of the hull. The boards are fitted at an angle so as to have the maximum effect when the hull has heeled over. The weather board also increases the vessel stability. The angle of the board generates a venturi below the hull which causes acceleration of the water at the central point (6). The effect is to reduce the surface area of the vessel in contact with the water. In multi hulled craft the joining beam can take on an aerofoil profile.
