PURPOSE:To measure the degree of expansion of an ink dot by dropping ink on recording paper for testing, by subjecting the ink dot to linear sequential scanning by one line and to read, and by finding the maximum value of the time length of each read signal. CONSTITUTION:One droplet of ink in a prescribed quantity is dropped on the recording paper 7 for testing by an ink dropping device 1, whereby one dot is formed thereon. This dot is subjected to linear sequential scanning by one line by a reading device 2 and reading thereof is performed. The time length of the read signal is counted by a clock signal in a counter 3 and is inputted sequentially in a register and a maximum counted value take-out circuit 4. This inputted counted value of one line is altered sequentially the larger counted value and the maximum counted value is indicated by an indicating device 5. This turns to be a value corresponding to the maximum diameter of the dot. Since the degree of expansion of the dot droplet on optional recording paper can be measured by this method, the discrimination of appropriateness of the paper as recording paper can be performed with ease. |
