<p>The illuminated sign has one or more transparent panels on which inscriptions are formed by engraving or polishing. These deflect light from a source behind. To regulate the light from the source before it reaches the transparent panels a plate of a length equal to the panel sections to be illuminated is mounted between the source and the sections with its lengthwise axis parallel to theirs. If necessary the plate is divided into zones affecting the light emitted in different ways and a drive mechanism moves the plate sideways in relation to the panel section in both directions, and if necessary in sudden steps.</p> |
