Cooler for hot foundry moulding sand - which travels along vibrating conveyor while being exposed to cooling air and water, and cooler has low total height

The hot sand is fed into a hopper (8) which is fixed to a fume extn. hood (6); and the base of hopper (8) is formed by one end (7) of a vibrating conveyor (1). The remaining part (3) of conveyor (1), i.e. apart from zone (7), is perforated, so air can be blown upwards through zone (3); and hopper (8) is provided with an upper and a lower sensor (10,11) used to switch the vibrator (2) on conveyor (1) on or off. A vibrating sieve (12) is pref. mounted on top of hopper (8); and the outlet end of conveyor (1) is pref. provided with a sieve for the cooled sand. The overall result is an inexpensive sand cooler with a low height.
