<p>The arrangement is particularly intended for applying a cap over the top (5,7) of a corked (2,3) bottle. It uses a flat piece of material which is turned down to form pleated folds against the side of the bottle neck (at 7). The material consists of stretchable foil which is gripped at its outer edge (6) and pulled down over the top after which this edge is secured around the bottle neck e.g by adhesive or by applying a tape (8) around the neck and overlapping the edge (6). The pleats may be welded together. A heat-shrinkable foil may be used in which case the bottle may be heated after the cap is applied.</p> |
