Electrical connection for fuel pump - has conductive moulding material between terminal post and pump casing

The terminal post (6) enters the pump casing (1) through a lid (3) with an axial extension (4). The space between the lid components (3,4) and the post (6) is filled with an electrically conducting material (7). This may be metal or a graphite loaded resin which is injected into the space. Typically the post (6) has a hexagonal section (8) for improving the mechanical anchoring of the post in the housing. The post has a screwed end (11) to take the electrical connection, typically the negative lead. The outer end of the conducting moulding (7) may be formed to provide a location (12,13) for the electrical cable connecting lug. O-rings (10) may be fitted as seals to prevent fuel leakage out of the terminal assembly.
