The invention concerns a process for the production of insulation on bridge and road slabs, artefacts, underground structures against water, especially moisture and water of precipitation. The essence of the invention consists in that first, pretreating material is applied to the surface to be protected, then to the pre-treated surface a foil or board-like material provided with a self-adhesive layer is applied or with the aid of an adhesive a polymer foil is adhered to the pre-treated surface, and a protective layer is applied to the insulating material to provide for mechanical protection, and finally an asphalt layer is applied to the protective layer. With the aid of the process according to the invention an insulating system may be formed which can resiliently follow the displacements or movements of the elements of the insulating construction and which is very durable.
