The apparatus for inspection of the inner surface 10 of a cylindrical pipe wall comprises a television camera 3, a light source and a cable 16 for transmission of working voltage and re-transmission of information signals from the camera. The optical axis 9 of the camera is kept at a constant position relative to the centre axis of the pipeline by a first guiding carriage 4 carrying the camera and having steering means 6 and by a second steering carriage 19 placed behind the camera at a distance and having steering means. All steering means are adapted to abut against the inner wall surface 10 of the pipeline and centre the associated steering carriage and also enable turning in the pipeline. An elongate, bendable coupling means 17, being able to absorb longitudinal forces without bending, connects the two steering carriages with each other. <IMAGE> |
