<p>An apparatus is provided for continuously laying concrete. This apparatus includes a movable frame with an attachment mounted on the frame for receiving concrete in a plastic condition. A slip-form paving machine is attached to the frame behind the receiving attachment for shaping the concrete into an elongated concrete slab. Apparatus is attached to the frame for forming a continuous groove on at least one edge of the concrete slab. Another attachment is provided on the frame for lining the groove with a lining. A punch mechanism is provided for punching a plurality of holes in the lining. An automatic bar mechanism is also attached to the frame for automatically placing bars into these holes. Because it is difficult to assure that such bars are properly placed in the holes and since an improperly positioned bar can cause serious damage to the keyway and pavement already laid, a mechanism is attached to the frame for shutting off the paving maching if the bar placing mechanism malfunctions so that the bars are not properly placed. Thus, not only is an improved bar inserting mechanism provided for a keyway forming machine, but also an improved mechanism is provided which shuts down the slip-forming machine if the bar becomes jammed.</p> |
