Transmission for rotary cutter - uses belt to drive reduction gear train and idling pulley on output shaft with cutter fixing to shaft or pulley

The transmission provides a wide range of radial velocities for rotary cutters (15), a marked step-up is achieved by switching from a reduction gear train drive to an endless belt (4) and pulley wheel drive. Low and high (15) speed cutting wheels are built onto tubular hubs (5,6). The former key directly to the gear train output shaft (1), the latter (15) keying onto the output pulley wheel (3). The output pulley wheel is mounted free to rotate on the reduction train output shaft (1), the belt (4) also traversing a drive pulley and a reduction train input pulley. The output pulley (3) and shaft assembly permit the fixing (9) of cutting wheel hubs to one or the other of the two components.
