The radiator of an automobile engine has horizontal tubes (1) attached to header plates (2,3). The header plates form part of the end tanks (5,6) respectively. One of the end tanks (6) is divided into two parts (8,9) by a vertical wall (7) with a hole (13). This hole (13) causes a pressure difference across the wall when the cooling water is circulated by the pump. Any air bubbles which collect in the inner part (8) of the end tank (6) are driven out through the vent pipe (15) which extends from the upper end of the inner tank (8) to the lower part of the outer tank (9).
|
