PURPOSE:To obtain a rust preventive agent for forming a film of excellent rust preventive effect by using a 3-hydroxy-gamma-pyrone or 5-hydroxy-gamma-pyrone compound as an essential component, adding an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and controlling pH. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous mixed soln. contg. about 0.01-10wt% concn. the 3- hydroxy-gamma-pyrone or 5-hydroxy-gamma-pyrone expressed by the formula or its deriv. and about 0.01-5wt% one or more kinds of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, for example, suberic acid, azelaic acid, brassylic acid is prepd. For example, ammonia water or hydrazine is added to this to make an aqueous soln. or emulsion soln. of 7-10pH, and this soln. is coated on metal surfaces. If necessary, it is also possible to add about 0.001-0.5wt% a surfactant and about 0.01-2wt% a high polymer compond. |
