The system comprises a distributing vehicle (2) which can be moved between locations by a tractor. The distributor supplies doses of feed into a trough via a beam device (5) suspended from the ceiling of the building in which the animals are kept. The beam has a C-shaped profile with apertures in the top and bottom flanges which can be closed by cylindrical stoppers (8) according to the required dosing. The vehicle comprises a silage tank (38) to which is pivoted a ramp (20) moved by an hydraulic ram (21). Concentrated feed additives are mixed with the silage by a screw mechanism (19).
