The automatic board turner can be used within the sawmill industry. At the moment when one wishes to have boards with a bad bevel lying with the least sawn surface upward or downward. This is achieved in that one mounts a registering unit 1 on a cross conveyor, which detects the way in which the board is lying. This is achieved in that one passes a board between two switches 9, one switch affected by the upwardly lying surface of the board and the other by the downward lying one. By connecting these in series, one in the open position, the other closed, one gets a closed circuit where the switch which is in the open position is affected first. This occurs when a board with a bad bevel passes lying the wrong way. After the detector unit comes the board turner, which consists of a turning disk and two turning plates 3, which are freely mounted on the axle of a gear motor with brake 7. The turning disk 2 is caused to rotate by the dog 4 which is mounted at the end of the motor axle 6. Before the turning commences, the turning plates clamp around the board, in that the dog 4 is coupled to them. When the turner has rotated 180 degrees, the motor is firmly braked, by means of a cam and a cam switch 11. When this occurs, the turning plates open and the board is turned. <IMAGE> |
