PURPOSE:To prevent a negative pressure sucking ink from giving influence to an ink jet during printing by a method wherein an operation of a suction pump is controlled according to two ink level detecting sensors installed in a gutter of an ink recovering device. CONSTITUTION:When ink pooled in an ink recovering gutter 1 reaches an ink level Lu, a sensor Su detects it and actuates a suction pump P to start an ink recovering operation. When ink reaches an ink level Ll, a sensor Sl detects it and stops the operation of the pump P. By the interruption of an ink recovering operation, ink in the gutter 1 increases and when ink reaches the ink level Lu, the ink recovering operation is performed repeatedly. When printing ends, a timer T is actuated and even when ink reaches the ink level Ll or less, the operation of the pump P is continued and the ink recovering operation is performed until ink in a gutter groove 2 is eliminated. |
