PURPOSE:To enable the manufacture of rolled products with lateral edges in uniform size and shape, by arranging a plastic restraining plate between both ends of upper and lower work rolls, at rolling steel sheets by a rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:The plastic restraining plates 11, 12, are arranged between both ends of upper and lower work rolls 2, 3, of the rolling mill, and the piston rods of the cylinder 16, 18, are connected to both ends of plastic restraining plates 11, 12. The cylinders 16, 18, are set slidably upon the holders 15, 17; plastic restraining plates 11, 12, are guided by the guiding members 13, 14, so as to be slidable in the direction of axes of work rolls 2, 3. When the material 10 is rolled by work rolls 2, 3, cylinders 16, 18, give a tension to plastic restraining plates 11, 12, and guiding members 13, 14, locate plastic restraining plates 11, 12, at their proper positions between upper and lower work rolls 2, 3, so as to restrain both side edges of the rolled material 10 with plastic restraining plates 11, 12; hereby, the size and shape of both edges of the rolled product are uniformized so that the material yield of the rolling work is prevented from lowering due to the trimming loss. |
