<p>The engine has a funnel shaped air inlet (1) facing in the direction of motion of the vehicle. The funnel has a connection (3) to a tube (4) which has an open end in the opposite direction and a branch (9) to the inlet filter. The tube (4) contains two butterfly dampers (12) which are linked together so that as the inlet from one end opens the inlet from the other end closes. A suction box (5) round one of them moves them in accordance with engine suction pressure. When the funnel end inlet is open, the engine is supercharged by the ram effect through the funnel.</p> |
