PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure the coating amount with high precision in on-line mode by dividing a coating material, sticking to an application roll, into two--the part in contact with a substrate and the other-- and by measuring the weights of them by collecting them for a long time with doctors 13 and 14. CONSTITUTION:Doctor 15 is provided where application roll 11 of a natural roll coater comes into contact with substrate (a), and doctors 13 and 14 are also provided where it never contacts with it. Application weight W per unit area of substrate can be found by the formula, where the width of each doctor is denoted as B, running speed of substrate (a) as V, and collection times and application weights of the parts which contact and do not contact with substrate (a) as T1 and T2, and w1 and w2 respectively. In this constitution, the coating material of the 1st rotation which may cause an error is removed first by doctor 13 and the coating material is collected by doctors 14 and 15 to measure the weight respectively, thereby finding the coating amount from the said formula. Thus, the measurement can be taken with precision in on-line mode. |
