A plastic carburettor float in two halves, one having a joint, is produced with their mating edges tapered; they are welded together by heating the edges by a hot plate but without contact, and joining them so that only the tapered edges fuse together at their softened areas. Each half of the float rests in an impression in a plate, and they are positioned opposite each other and their edges are tapered. The plates can move in their mounting blocks which have moving pressure members. Rejection rate is minimally low, so permitting mass production, only the edges are softened so that no dangerous stresses arise elsewhere.
|
