The biopsy cannula for taking samples of mammary tissue has a grip fixed to a biopsy tube (1), which is hollow with an axial or oblique biopsy slit (3) at the forward end, sharpened along one or more edges (3a). It can have a trocar point (2a) at the forward end, mounted on a cylindrical bar (2) sliding in the longitudinal direction in the tube. The tube can be connected to a vibrator, so as to cause the slit edge to oscillate, and also to a suction pipe creating vacuum inside it. The design is simple to use, forms no scars, and allows a sufficient amount of tissue to be extracted for diagnosis.
