Transductor with variable air gap width - increases response slope by varying gap width linearly with air gap to reduce cushion distortion in TV

The transductor has a control coil, a working coil and a core with an air-gap. The width (d) of the air-gap (11) varies over the cross-section of the core (8,9). The width of the air-gap on one side of the core limb is zero and increases towards the other side. The width increases linearly. The boundary surface of the air-gap is flat or curved. The width of the air-gap may increase towards the outer edge of the transductor's core. The transductor is for use in eg a television receiver for controlling the amplitude of the line deflection current (E-W cushion distortion correction). The air-gap improves the transductor's overdrive range, slope and linearity.
