The heat storage vessel using latent heat, has a vertical cylindrical vessel (2) containing a stack of dished heat storage elements (1) with a central hole (4) through each. A space is left inside the vessel underneath the bottom element, inside which is mounted a heater (5) or heat exchanger. The elements are separated from each other by spacers (3) or ribs and further spacers are included between their peripheries and the inside of the vessel. The whole can be filled with water circulated through inlet and outlet connections (6,7) at top and bottom. The sloping surfaces of the elements and the gaps between them assist this circulation.
