The device for keeping used paint brushes immersed in a cleaning fluid uses a container with a base (1) into which fits a cover (2) with a seal (8) between so that air is excluded. The cover can be used as a measure for the amount of fluid to be poured into the base. The brushes rest on a grid (3) supported by legs (4) above the bottom of the base. A handle (5) which projects above the level of the top of the base is attached to the grid so that it can be easily lifted out. The parts are made of material resistant to the solvent fluid. The lid may be secured by a bayonet fitting.
