The apparatus has several radiographic systems (4,5) each with an X-ray tube and a high voltage generator. The tube and generator are mounted in a common housing. A frequency converter (2,3) for each high voltage generator provides a feed frequency in the kHz range. All frequency converters are connected to a common supply unit (1). All radiographic systems may be alternately provided with a common frequency converter feeding the voltage generators in parallel. The arrangement enables the use of high power generators without high voltage cables, using only a low voltage cable for a common housing for the X-ray tube and the high voltage generator. The arrangement also provides low voltage drop on the feed lines. The co-mon supply unit may be an electronic rectifier, generating direct voltage for the feed of the frequency converters.
