The paint spray pistol has a manually controlled nozzle needle valve freeing or shutting off the paint flow. The needle valve (4), or a portion coupled to it (6), protrudes from the pistol (1) in the rearwards direction and there has a hand grip or coupling member (5). This enables it to be pulled rearwards so as to open the valve separately, when flushing through. The coupling member may be a screw head. The design allows easy changeover between colours, both when using two-ingredient varnishes and more conventional paints.
