<p>Ink jet printer (10) having a rotatable ink reservoir (12) for supplying ink to a print head (52) through a capillary ink supply line (48), which print head (52) is movable in rotary direction and is adapted to eject ink droplets on to a record medium (72) as the head (52) is moved past the record medium (72). The ink reservoir (12) has two cavities (28, 30), one of which (30) is connected to the print head (52) by the ink supply line (48). Valve means (36, 40, 42) are provided between the cavities (28, 30) to control the flow of ink therebetween such that ink is free to flow between the cavities (28, 30) when the ink reservoir (12) is at rest, but is prevented from flowing, due to centrifugal force, upon rotation of the ink reservoir (12). By virtue of this arrangement a major proportion of the total ink in the reservoir (12) is isolated from the ink supply line (48) during rotation of the reservoir (12), whereby a sufficient negative head is maintained at said print head (52) for proper operation of the printer (10). </p> |
