Sail-board rig with curved mast - uses mast as sail holding, setting and hand grip assembly with bow in mast bottom portion and sail luff forming triangle base

The rig is esp. suited for sailboards, sailing-dinghies, catamarans, hydrofoils and ice- or sand-yachts. It has a conventionally universal-joint-footed (2,3) mast (1) to which a boom (4) is rigidly attached, and a sail (5) fixed to mast and boom by its head, tack and clew. The bottom portion of the mast is made to project backwards in a bow, curve, angle or other suitable shape. The upper portion (6) of the projection serves as a handgrip for holding and setting the sail. The sail luff below this handgrip lies in front of the mast; this part of the sail may be separate (5') from the main part of the sail.
