<p>A panel, esp. for use as a wall or ceiling lining, consists of a wooden layer of rectangular or square cross-section which is shaped, i.e. raised in the centre, leaving flat flanges along the periphery. This layer can consist of plywood or of a veneered pressboard and is bonded along the flanges to an expanded polystyrene plate. A rectangular groove can be left on the periphery of the polystyrene plate where it joins the wood. Such a panel can be simply bonded to a wall or ceiling of a building by adhesive, or laths can be laid into the grooves and nailed into the wall. This simplifies the installation and ensures heat and sound insulation.</p> |
