Bio:absorbable wound dressing, esp. for dentistry - comprising foamed aminoacid polymer

Bioabsorbable wound dressings are made of a foamed material comprising one or more "monopolypeptides" (I), i.e. polypeptides consisting of chains of a single protein-forming amino acid. (I) is pref. poly-proline or poly-hydroxyproline. The void vol. of the foam is pref. ca. 80%. The dressings are esp. suitable for use in dental surgery, esp. for stabilising blood clots in wounds resulting from tooth extraction. They stabilise the clot against shrinkage and protect the wound from infection without causing allergic reactions.
