Rotary hearth furnace for baking ceramic prods. - esp. moulds used in mfg. precision castings, where part of ring hearth is exposed for easy loading and unloading of furnace

The furnace includes a housing (1) contg. a rotating ring hearth (2); and part of housing (1) is cut away to leave an exposed segment of ring (2). The exposed segment is used for the loading and unloading of ceramics, esp. moulds, onto and off the hearth (2). About 25%, i.e. 90 deg., of the hearth (2) is pref. exposed, leaving a casing (1) provided with automatically opening and closing doors for the entry and exit of the ceramics. The advantage is that ceramic moulds can be gently fed into, or removed from the furnace either mechanically or manually without damage.
