<p>The universal joint gives constant velocity during angular movement and consequent radial movement of the three rollers transmitting the torque in relation to the inner member, using a spring component thrusting a spherical control face on each roller against a mating face on the outer member. The centre (14) of the spherical face (11) of each roller is at the centre of the joint when this is in the straight position. The mating face (10) on the outer member (1) can be on a narrow strip extending in the lengthwise direction, and extending from the base (12) of the groove (16) in which each roller engages.</p> |
