PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution while making connections among four terminals, by using a couple of wedge-shaped reflective mirrors for a branch part. CONSTITUTION:A parallel light beam is split into two by reflective surface 11a of wedge-shaped prism 11 and they travel in the mutually opposite directions and are transmitted to and coupled with optical fibers 1 and 2 via refractive index distribution type lenses 5 and 6. Light emitted from fiber 1 is made into a parallel light beam by lens 5 and while part of it is reflected by reflective surface 11a of wedge-shaped prism 11, the other is coupled with fiber 2 via lens 6 without being reflected. Similarly, light from fiber 2 is reflected partially by reflective surface 11a and the other is coupled with fiber 1. |
