PURPOSE:To improve characteristics of a photoreceptor, by using an interlayer having minute hollow granules provided between a photoconductive layer and an insulating layer, and filling the recesses of the photoconductive layer with these granules in order to form a smooth layer of uniform thickness. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer containing photoconductor 2 dispersed into a binder, interlayer 6 containing minute hollow granules 5, and insulating layer 4 are laminated on substrate 1 to form an electrophotographic receptor. Since this photoconductive layer is porous, a coating fluid for forming layer 4 invades the recesses of the photoconductive layer, resulting in rendering characteristics of the photoreceptor nonuniform. Since the recesses where the photoconductor pigment bound with the binder is absent in the surface are filled with the minute granules 5 by forming interlayer 6 or interlayer 6 containing minute hollow granules 5, for example, microencapsulated granules, the photoconductive layer becomes uniform in thickness and insulating layer 4 becomes also uniform in accordance with the photoconductive layer. |
