PURPOSE:To enable quick and accurate control, by making a delay or lead the scanning of the even number order to that of an odd number order, through giving a slight shift of the position of a plurality of heads. CONSTITUTION:The head position of two heads is slightly shifted so that the scanning track can repeat coarse and fine as shown in Figure. The recording tracks 4, 5 of an even and odd number order and the playback tracks 6, 7 of those, are set so that the phase of the recording and playback tracks can be shifted by 180 deg.C. Thus, in playing back the recording track 4 of the odd number order, it is traced 7 to an even number order and the recording track 5 of an even number order is tracked 6 to the odd number order. Further, the recording and playback tracks are shifted each other slightly. The shift of the playback tracks 6, 7 to the recording tracks 4, 5 is discriminated for the direction, allowing to correct the shift for optimum tracking control. |
