<p>The water closet is equipped with a fan-motivated ventilation system by which offensive odours are removed from the pan zone, utilising a valved duct (5, 6) to convey extracted air to a discharge point in the sewage outfall (2) behind the seal. The closet takes the conventional form, a pan (22) with a sealed sewage outlet (2) includes a rear-mounted header tank (24) for flush water. A flush water feed passage (25) locates at the foot of the tank, the ventilation duct inc. an extraction pipe (5) which passes vertically through the tank (24) to open out in the passage (25). The head of the pipe is surmounted by a one way valve which authorises upward air flows only, and opens out into a fan chamber. The fan (4) is driven by a low current motor which may be connected to a light switch through a transformer, and directs the airflow into a back pipe (6) to the outlet (2).</p> |
