MUD GUN

摘要

A mud gun with a traversing arm carrying a gun barrel with a muzzle at one end, the arm being rotatably supported at the second end on a centre post, a traversing gear secured to the second end of the traversing arm, coaxially with the centre post, a gear mechanism engageable with the traversing gear and adapted to move the traversing arm through about 180.degree. and a pressing gear mechanism attached to the second end of the traversing arm and adapted to begin tooth-engagement immediately before the muzzle of said gun barrel is brought into contact with a taphole of a blast furnace, the radius of said traversing gear being shorter than the radius of said pressing gear mechanism relative to the axis of the centre post. The gun simplifies the operation of closing a taphole in a blast furnace. The device is also compact and requires less maintenance.
