PURPOSE:To perform full purification without deterioration of a ternary catalyst by fitting an oxidation catalyst converter to the place of an exhaust pipe near an engine and a ternary catalyst converter to an intermediate place thereof. CONSTITUTION:To the place of the exhaust pipe 10 near the engine the oxidation catalyst converter 12 is fitted, while to the intermediate place of the pipe a rear converter 13 is fitted. In oxidizing reaction by the oxidation catalyst under high temperature HC and CO are purified, while in reducing reaction by the ternary catalyst 14 under low temperature NOX is purified. In this way, each component of HC, CO and NOX can be purified effectively without useless deterioration of the ternary catalyst. |
