The sliding door mechanism is intended for at least two doors (15) or wall panels of a goods vehicle, which are in a common plane when closed. It comprises at least two rails (1,2) arranged side by side for rollers (10) which carry the doors via support brackets (12-14) secured (16) thereto. Rail sections (3,4) are movable transversely to the rails (1,2) and carry the rollers of at least one of the doors in the closed position in which position the sections (3,4) are not in line with the rails (1,2). Each section (3,4) may be transversely movable (via 17) by a hydraulic cylinder actuator (19,20).
