The air heater comprises a fan (5) arranged in a housing (1) with an outlet nozzle end (1') containing the outlet (6') of a centrally arranged heating duct (6) whose inclined inlet end (7) passes through the wall of the housing and connects to atmosphere. One or more large-capacity burner jets (8) are arranged in the duct outside the housing. The straight inlet end (7) of the duct may be at an angle of between 30 and 60 deg. to the axis of the nozzle housing (1). The burner axis is pref. at an angle to the duct end (7) axis which is smaller than the angle between this end and the nozzle housing axis.
