The single screw connection is for fixing a handle into a cooking utensil. The screw (24) enters an internally threaded stud (11) which projects from the pan wall (10) and is housed in a sleeve (13) which extends from the handle (12) end (15). The stud (11) is of non-circular cross section and traverses a matching aperture in a sleeve diaphragm (14). Mechanical keys may be used to fix the diaphragm (14) in position in the sleeve (13), and the sleeve may be fabricated by pressing sheet metal. The resultant pressed metal sheet has opposed edges with sinusoidal undulations. The sheet is then formed into a sleeve with semi-circular tongues overlapping, and local punching through the overlaps completes the joint.
