PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease of capacity after a long preservation by filling a water-repellent resin whose critical surface tension is less than 73dyne/ cm<2> to a tray-formed member of lead or a lead alloy whose recession faces the electrode plate side at the top of poles which connect the neighboring cells in series. CONSTITUTION:Since the surface tension of water is 73dyne/cm<2>, the water hardly wets the surface of a resin whose critical surface tension is less than 73dyne/cm<2>. And by filling a resin 7 whose critical surface tension is less than 73dyne/cm<2> at the tray-formed member of lead or a lead alloy 6 facing its recession to electrode plates 1 and 2 side at the top of poles 4 and 5, the water hardly wets the periphery of the poles 4 and 5, because the upper parts of the poles 4 and 5 are buried in the resin 7. That is, since the liquid contact of the positive pole and the negative pole 4 and 5 is prevented by the water- repellent property of the resin 7 even though a dew condensation is produced owing to the rise and the fall of the temperature when the battery is left for a long time, the self-discharge from the liquid contact is prevented. A decrease of the capacity during a long preservation can be prevented accordingly. |
