PURPOSE:Alcaligenes faecalis is cultured in a medium containing organic nutrients such as a specific carbon source, an inorganic nitrogen source, a specific amount of yeast extract at a specific pH to produce high-concentration polysaccharide in high yield. CONSTITUTION:Alcaligenes faecalis (FERM-608) is cultured in a liquid medium containing at least one selected from the group of organic nutrients consisting of carbon sources such as lower polyhydric alcohol, inorganic nitrogen sources, polypeptone, yeast extracts, corn steep liquor, Casamino acids, and malt extract. The organic nutrient is added to the liqid culture medium by 0.05-0.5% (W/V) and the aerobic cultivation is conducted at 5.5-6.5pH and 25-35 deg.C. After the cells are removed from the culture mixture, the filtrate is spray dried or the polysaccharide formed is recovered by precipitation, thus producing the objective product. |
