864,545. Exhaust gas driven turbines and supercharger assemblies. PRVNI BRNENSKA STROJIRNA, ZAVODY KLEMENTA GOTT. WALDA, NARODNI PODNIK. Aug. 18, 1958 [Aug. 19, 1957], No. 26455/58. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XXXIV] In an exhaust gas driven turbine and supercharger blower assembly, the turbine rotor and the blower impeller are mounted in overhung relation on a common shaft which is supported in the casing by means of two bearings. An annular space 3 is provided in the casing near the bearing 4 which is disposed adjacent the turbine. rotor and engine lubricating oil is circulated through the annular space to provide a cooling effect. Oil for lubricating the shaft bearings is supplied from the lubricating system of the engine on to a rotary disc 7- which causes atomization of the oil. The engine lubricating oil may be supplied through a cooler 10 disposed in the air inlet to the blower; the oil then passing to an inlet 1 in the casing. Oil passes through a duct 6 to impinge on the atomizing disc 7, the oil mist serving to lubricate, the bearings. The oil discharges from the space 8 through the duct 9 to outlet 5. Some oil from the inlet 1 flows through passage 2 to the annular space 3, thereby tending to cool the bearing 4 adjacent the turbine rotor. This oil then discharges through outlet 5 together with the oil from the lubricating space 8. The velocity of discharge of the cooling oil augments the discharge of the lubricating oil through the duct 9.
