A movable spring 5 carries a pair of contacts 6, 7, arranged one on each surface and at opposite sides of the spring, co-operating with fixed contacts 8, 9. The spring is operable, as shown, by a snap spring 3 which has slotted parts 12, 14 through which spring 5 passes. The slot 11 in part 12 is slanting, or the spring 5 is tilted where it passes through the slot. The arrangement is such that when the contacts engage, the spring 5 is twisted about its longitudinal axis and a wiping action occurs.
