PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a temper color on the nonplated side of a one-side vacuum plated steel sheet by overaging the sheet in the absence of the open air after plating. CONSTITUTION:Steel strip 1 is plated for the one side by vapor deposition or other method in vacuum plating chamber 5, and it passes through outlet side vacuum sealing device 7 and enters heating furnace 8 for alloying installed in close contact with device 7. The plated metal and iron of strip 1 are mutually diffused by heating in furnace 8 to form an alloy layer on the boundary between them, thereby making the adhesion of the metal to strip 1 firm. Strip 1 is then fed to overaging furnace 9 installed in the same chamber as furnace 8 is in, and it is cooled and overaged. Strip 1 is further cooled to a temp. at which no temper color occurs in cooling chamber 10. The heating for alloying may be omitted according to the application. |
