<p>The tensioner for a strap around the neck (3) of a glass vessel (4) to secure a lid (1) over the open top, is used for a vessel with a globe shaped body with an artificial flower suspended inside from the lid. An annular plate (21) is fitted round the neck with rods (19) projecting radially inwards, each with a tilting hook (16) attached to its end, to support the strap (2) while it is bent over horizontally (10) at the top, in contact with the lid. The strap is tensioned by these hooks by a sliding lever so that their rods are simultaneously pulled outwards when an operating arm is extended. Extending from each hook is a spindle (17) guided by a sloping cam surface (41) projecting upwards near the inner edge of the annular plate. This enables the hooks to be swung downwards about their hinge points (18) for release from the strap at the completion of tensioning.</p> |
