The rudder is made from a frame (5) attached to the boat through pintals and carries the tiller (6). The rudder blade (1) is mounted on a vertical post which extends above the upper bearing and is attached to a hinged bar (3). The bar is hooked at the end and the hook fits in the gudgeon (2) on the frame. If the bar (3) is rotated 180 degrees and then the rudder blade rotated 180 degrees the ring (4) can be hooked onto the back of the bar (3). In this position the rudder blade may be used for propulsion.
