Multistage press tool change assembly - has grip with forcing-away devices to reduce initial frictional travel resistance

The press is fitted with a tool change assembly comprising guide device and grip arm. The guide device is suspended on a mechanism allowing its three-dimensional movement. On both sides of the grip arm grips are fitted, operating in pincer-like fashion and hereby gripping, or releasing the tool. The movements of the grip arm are operated by a cylinder unit acting in opposite direction. To reduce frictional resistance occurring during the initial phases of the movement, the grip arm is fitted with a forcing-away device comprising of forcing bolt, carrying an eccentrically fitted piston operating in a power cylinder. The forcing bolt supports the action of main power cylinder by reducing the bending forces acting on the grip arm.
